The President of Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State, new healthcare institutions opened in Ashgabat, the President of Türkiye was awarded the jubilee medal of Turkmenistan in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly and other news

1. On October 8, a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting was attended by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

2. During his speech, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan is in favor of expanding the volume and geography of energy supplies across the CIS and beyond. The head of state emphasized that he sees the creation of conditions for the functioning of the “green” economy in the CIS as an important area of cooperation.

3. At the end of the Summit, a decision was made on the CIS chairmanship in 2025. According to the signed document, the chairmanship will pass to the Republic of Tajikistan, and the co-chairs during this period will be Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.

4. Today, the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Era of Revival of a New Era of a Powerful State” opened in the capital of Turkmenistan, timed to coincide with the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers. On this occasion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to the forum participants.

5. In the morning, the grand opening of the International Health and Rehabilitation Center for 400 people and the International Scientific and Clinical Center of Physiology for 250 people was held in Ashgabat. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the ceremony.

6. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on awarding the Jubilee Medal of Turkmenistan in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi to President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The award was presented in recognition of Erdogan's merits in developing friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Türkiye, as well as for his contribution to the study and popularization of the creative heritage of the great Turkmen poet. In accordance with the presidential Decree, Honorary Elder of Turkmenistan Recep Tayyip Erdogan was also awarded commemorative and gift signs.

7. On October 10, a grand opening ceremony of a monument to the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev will be held in the “Lachyn” park in Ashgabat. The event will be attended by representatives of the local intelligentsia, diplomatic corps, creative associations, the Kazakh diaspora, as well as scientists and writers. The opening of the monument is part of the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan, which started the day before in the capital.

8. Florida authorities have called for the mass evacuation of over 5,5 million residents as Hurricane “Milton” approaches. The seriousness of the situation is underscored by the fact that even those residents who usually ignore such warnings have decided to follow the authorities' recommendations this time. In order to avoid a traffic collapse on major highways, people are urged to take refuge in nearby shelters, without going far inland.

9. American airline Spirit Airlines has tightened its requirements for passengers' appearance. The carrier now insists on modest clothing that completely covers the body. The new rules came into force after an incident with two passengers who were denied boarding because of crop tops. Despite the flight attendant's request to cover up, the girls did not comply. Spirit Airlines says the crew member's actions were justified. The 60-page contract of carriage that passengers sign when buying tickets includes a clause about the need to look decent on board. The document states that “inadequate clothing” can result in denied boarding.

10. The youth volleyball team of Turkmenistan successfully started participation in the championship of the Central Asian Volleyball Confederation, held in Colombo. In the first match, the Turkmen volleyball players beat the team of the Maldives with a score of 3:0, and in the second match they won against the team of the Kyrgyz Republic also with a score of 3:0. Teams from six countries are participating in the tournament: Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Maldives. At the preliminary stage, the teams will play each other in a round robin, after which the teams that took 1st and 2nd places will meet in the final, and the teams that took 3rd and 4th places will fight for bronze medals.
