The Astrakhan region has allocated a 20-hectare plot of land in the “Lotus” port special economic zone for the placement of Turkmenistan’s logistics center.

As TASS reports with reference to the Vice-Governor and Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan Region Denis Afanasyev, the authorities have been holding this area for Turkmenistan for a long time.

“We intend to continue doing this, because we would like to see trade and logistics centers not only from Turkmenistan located here. We are also offering the Islamic Republic of Iran exactly the same conditions, because we also have a large volume of foreign trade activity with Iran”, - he said.

During a working visit to Ashgabat, D. Afanasyev discussed the details of the project with his Turkmen colleagues.

“... Today we have made progress in the technical discussion of the details of this issue. There are no deadlines yet, but we are holding this territory”, - he explained.

Let us remind that in January of this year, during the visit to Ashgabat of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, an Agreement on the establishment of a logistics center was signed between the General Director of the “Lotus” SEZ Sergey Milushkin and the Acting General Director of the “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” Merdan Bashimov.
