The name was not chosen by chance, it plays on the proverb: "water is the life of the Turkmen, a horse is the wings of the Turkmen, and a carpet is the soul of the Turkmen". The work then began literally a week before the start of the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition, of course, never took place, but the carpet was still finished weaving on February 13, 1942. At that time, it was considered the largest carpet in the world.
