A new study conducted by scientists from Canada and the UK has revealed an interesting trend: women experience more stress from using modern technologies compared to men. This is reported by gazeta.ru with reference to Community, Work & Family (CWF).

Researchers from the University of British Columbia and Lancaster University studied the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on work and personal life. The study results show that women are more likely to experience "digital overload".

Professor Yang Hu, who led the project, noted that the active use of ICT can be considered as a new form of work that requires significant time and energy costs.

The study analyzed data from more than 6600 working women from 29 countries. All participants were between 30 and 59 years of age, had at least one child, and had at least one living parent.

It turned out that women are 1,6 times more likely than men to use digital technologies simultaneously at work and at home. At the same time, in the workplace, women turn to ICTs 31% less often than men, but when fulfilling family responsibilities - 2,6 times more often.

The study also found that the shift to remote work further exacerbates this imbalance in digital workload between men and women.
