Elon Musk, the founder of Neuralink, shared the news of the successful implantation of the chip in a second patient. The information was announced during a podcast hosted by YouTube blogger Lex Friedman. Musk noted the high efficiency of the implant, writes snob.ru.

“I don't want to jinx it, but it looks like the second implant went very well. There's a lot of signals, a lot of electrodes. It works very well”, - Musk said.

The new implant, according to Musk, contains 400 electrodes, which significantly expands its capabilities. The second patient, like the first, suffers from a spinal cord injury. The exact date of the operation is not disclosed. Musk also announced plans to implant neurochips in eight more patients by the end of the year.

The first patient, Nolan Arbaugh, had previously reported some problems with individual electrodes, but had seen an increase in the overall effectiveness of the device. He expressed hope that the stability of the implant would continue to improve in new patients, which could open up additional applications.

Let us remind that in January 2024, Musk announced the first successful implantation of a Neuralink chip in a person. It was 29 years old Nolan Arbo, paralyzed as a result of a spinal cord injury. The device implanted in Arbo's brain transmits signals to a computer wirelessly. This technology permits patients to control devices with the power of thought and is aimed at helping people with disabilities.
