The Ministry of Nature of Kyrgyzstan announced an increase in fines for illegal hunting of animals listed in the Red Book. This decision is aimed at strengthening the protection of endangered species, reports Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.
The new penalty system Is as follows:
Snow leopard: fine increased from 1.5 to 2 million soms
Argali, brown bear, maral and goitered gazelle: fine increased from 1 to 1.5 million soms
Capricorn: the fine increased from 100 to 300 thousand soms
Roe deer: fine increased from 50 to 100 thousand soms
To stimulate the fight against poaching, a reward has been introduced for citizens who report illegal hunting. Whistleblowers will receive 50% of the fine imposed.
