From July 15, 2024, Thailand introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan, allowing them to stay in the country for up to 60 days without the need for a visa. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency.

The decision Is part of a broader initiative by the Thai government to boost the country’s economy by facilitating entry for citizens of a number of countries. In addition to Uzbekistan, the list of countries that received visa-free access also included China, India and Kazakhstan. Thus, the total number of states whose citizens can visit Thailand without a visa has increased from 57 to 61.

It is important to note that this decision was made unilaterally by the Thai government and may be revised in the future.

Before the introduction of the visa-free regime, citizens of Uzbekistan had to obtain a 15-day visa upon arrival at the airport, which cost US$60. The new rules will significantly simplify the process of entering the country for Uzbek citizens and will likely help increase the flow of tourists between the two countries.

This measure could have a positive impact on the development of tourism and strengthening economic ties between Thailand and Uzbekistan.
