The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan announced the results of the elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, held on July 7, 2024. Elections were held in three electoral districts of Ashgabat to replace early-retired deputies.
Based on the voting results, the following candidates were elected:
- For constituency No. 1 Garaşsyzlyk: Rejep Bazarov – manager of the Office of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, executive director and vice-president of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Deputy President of the Humanitarian Association of Turkmen of the World.
- For electoral district No. 2 Bitaraplyk: Kulyev Maksat Hojamuradovich – prosecutor of the Department for monitoring the implementation of laws in vehicles of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Ashgabat.
- For constituency No. 6 Köpetdag: Mollaberdiev Enysh Jumageldiyevich – leading consultant of the Department for Personnel and Execution Control of the Ministry of Adalat of Turkmenistan.
- Let us remind you that out of 86,641 registered voters, 79 121 people took part in the voting, which amounted to 91.32% of the turnout.
A total of 9 candidates for deputies of the Parliament of Turkmenistan were registered, including two from the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, one from the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, two candidates from the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan and four nominees from initiative groups of citizens.
Compliance with all requirements of a free and democratic electoral process was monitored by 76 national observers appointed and registered by political parties and public associations.
