The Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, in cooperation with other missions of the countries of the Central Asian region and the European Union Mission to UNOG, organized a side event within the framework of the ongoing 56th session of the Human Rights Council.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the event information was presented on the vision, positions and current processes in the framework of the implementation of national policies in the field of gender equality, through consistent work to strengthen and improve the legislative framework and institutional mechanisms, ensuring equal conditions for education and employment, economic empowerment of women and girls, increasing women's participation at all levels, including in the political and public spheres.
The collective efforts and aspirations of the Central Asian countries to develop productive interaction in the field of promoting gender policy were noted. In this regard, the importance of the Women’s Dialogue platform of Central Asian countries, which has been operating since 2020, was emphasized, which is an effective regional platform for promoting and developing long-term solutions on issues of gender equality, the source notes.
