The Turkmen delegation, consisting of representatives of customs, border and migration services, the Turkmenavtoulaglary and Turkmendemiryollary Agencies, visited the Lotfabad customs post (Khorasan Razavi province, Iran) on July 3 to participate in the second meeting of the border departments of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. This was reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The Iranian side was represented by the head and employees of the Lotfabad customs post, the head of the border post, the heads of the relevant departments of the municipality of Razavi Khorasan province, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on passport and visa issues.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of extending the working hours of Artyk-Lotfabad customs posts in the period from November to January, the development of a mechanism for mutual data exchange and expedited visa processing for truck drivers of both sides. The parties also considered the possibilities of the Lotfabad railway crossing.
A representative of the State Customs Service informed participants about the entry into force of the rules on preliminary information, according to which carriers, from June 1, 2024, can submit information to customs authorities about goods before their import into the territory of Turkmenistan.
A meeting participant from the Turkmendemiryollary agency presented a presentation on the schedule and prices of rail transportation.
The meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the embassies of the two countries.
The day's program also included a memorial ceremony for Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who died in a helicopter crash. A monument was unveiled in honor of the victims at the Lotfabad customs post.
During their visit, the Turkmen delegation was familiarized with the infrastructure of the Lotfabad checkpoint.
