Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov was elected Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Belarus Viktor Khrenin.
According to Khrenin, this decision was made at a meeting of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers held in Minsk. “The first official decision of the meeting of the CIS Council of Defense, taking place in Minsk at these minutes: the
Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrey Removich Belousov, was elected chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers”, - said the Belarusian minister.
Information about Belousov’s election was published in the official telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus along with a video recording of Khrenin’s statement.
The Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS is the body of the Commonwealth of Independent States on issues of military policy and military development.
It is worth noting that representatives of Turkmenistan take part in the work of the Council as observers.
