At the capital's Yildiz Hotel, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Turkmenistan organized a tasting of the national Chinese dish hotpot, also known as the “Chinese samovar”.
Third Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan Wang Yuan spoke about the culture of hot pot consumption. This dish consists of a pot of boiling, aromatic broth, around which plates are placed with a variety of raw ingredients: thinly sliced meat, seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, noodles and tofu.
The process of preparing and eating hot pot is unique: each guest independently chooses the ingredients and puts them into the broth. After a few minutes, the finished food is caught with chopsticks and eaten, dipped in various sauces – sesame, soy, garlic or spicy. The broth can be spicy or mild, depending on preference.
– Hogo is not just food, but a whole event. This is a great reason to get together with friends or family, chat and cook a dish together,” Wang Yuan emphasized.
The event was attended by representatives of the Bosphorus youth center, a division of the Youth Union of Turkmenistan. The center organizes scientific, cultural, educational and sports events, and also provides consulting services on various social issues.
General Director of the center Zalina Rossoshanskaya spoke about a recent joint project with the Chinese Embassy – a teleconference for the youth of the two countries. She also shared her plans for the future:
– We strive to build bridges of friendship between the young leaders of our countries. In the near future we plan to open language courses for learning Chinese, available to everyone. In addition, we intend to provide consulting services to Chinese entrepreneurs interested in entering the Turkmen market.”
