Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev to discuss further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the parties noted the high level of bilateral relations, supported by systemic and dynamic contacts at the highest level. Particular attention was paid to the recent participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024”, where he put forward important initiatives to deepen Turkmen-Russian cooperation.
The interlocutors emphasized the important role of interparliamentary interaction and discussed issues related to the organization of the II Interparliamentary Forum of the Countries of Central Asia and Russia. This forum will become a platform for further strengthening friendly ties between the states of the region.
The parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture as key areas of humanitarian partnership.
At the end of the meeting, Meredov and Kosachev confirmed their readiness to jointly develop effective forms of bilateral interaction that meet modern challenges and the needs of developing relations.
