A Turkmen delegation led by the Head of the Department for Cooperation with the WTO Ilham Yarash and a member of the Committee on Economic Issues of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Gurbangeldi Ashirov is participating in the Second Central Asian Forum on Trade Policy in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from June 3 to 5, 2024, the press service of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan reported to Turkmenportal.
The forum, organized by the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the government of Kazakhstan, is dedicated to the theme of "Economic integration through accession and membership in the WTO."
High-ranking government officials responsible for WTO issues from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are participating in the event.
Turkmenistan's participation in the forum presents a valuable opportunity:
- Exchange of experience: Turkmenistan can learn from the experience of other Central Asian countries that have already joined the WTO.
- Building partnerships: The forum provides Turkmenistan with a platform to engage with regional organizations and development partners.
- Demonstrating commitment: Turkmenistan's active participation demonstrates its commitment to integration into the global trading system.
WTO membership offers a clear path to increased trade and economic growth. By actively engaging with regional partners and the WTO, Turkmenistan can benefit from the opportunities provided by deeper economic integration in Central Asia.
The first Central Asian Forum on Trade Policy was held in Ashgabat in 2016.
The forum concludes on June 5th.
