The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Akmaljon Kuchkarov made a working visit to Dashoguz velayat. As part of the visit, he visited the construction site of the Turkmen-Uzbek border trade zone. In accordance with the intergovernmental agreement signed on October 5, 2021, shopping centers - border free trade zones with an area of 3 hectares each - are being built on the territory of the Horezm region of Uzbekistan and the Dashoguz velayat of Turkmenistan.
Construction work on the construction of the Trade Center in the Turkmen-Uzbek border zone in the Dashoguz region began in July 2023, the commissioning of the facility is scheduled for July 2025.
On the territory of the Shavat district of the Horezm region, the construction of a shopping center also began in accordance with the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated February 28 of this year.
The launch of cross-border trade zones will create new opportunities for realizing the economic potential of the Horezm and Dashoguz regions, as well as improving the well-being of the local population, the source notes.
