The Kazan International Economic Forum KAZANFORUM, opening in the capital of Tatarstan, will become the first carbon-neutral Islamic forum. This was reported by rg.ru.
“Tatneft” will help achieve this goal by acting as an ESG partner of the event. Neutralization of greenhouse gas emissions will be carried out through the use of certified carbon units obtained as part of the implementation of climate projects registered in the national registry.
Thanks to this initiative, the carbon footprint of all forum events, including business and cultural programs, the INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY MARKET 2024 exhibition and Russia Halal Expo, will be fully offset. It is expected that 20 000 guests from 85 countries will take part in KAZANFORUM.
In addition to neutralizing emissions, other “green” initiatives will be proposed at the forum. Participants will be able to calculate their individual carbon footprint and contribute to offset it by planting tree seedlings. In addition, waste sorting from all KAZANFORUM sites will be organized for further processing.
