The famous American performer Beyonce was honored to be included in one of the most authoritative French dictionaries - Petit Larousse Illustré. This is reported by daily.afisha.ru with reference to The Times.
In the 120th edition of the dictionary, which will be released soon, the name Beyonce will appear as a proper noun with the notation “American singer in the genre of R'n'B and pop music”.
In addition to Beyonce, the list of new words and personalities added to the dictionary included basketball player LeBron James, actress Cate Blanchett, and other famous figures selected by a jury of 150 candidates.
As noted by the head of the department of dictionaries and encyclopedias at Larousse, Karine Girac-Marinier, the decision to include certain words and personalities in the dictionary is made based on their compliance with “the values of Petit Larousse - excellence and the promotion of French culture”.
