A rare pocket watch that belonged to the Titanic's richest passenger, John Jacob Astor IV, will be sold at auction.
Astor, business magnate and heir to the Astor family fortune, died in the 1912 disaster.
Before boarding the lifeboat, he helped his pregnant wife Madeleine.
Astor's body was found seven days after the sinking, and he had his watch, a 14-karat gold Waltham engraved with the initials JJA.
The watch, which has a starting price of £150 000 pounds, is being auctioned by Henry Aldridge & Son in Wiltshire.
Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge called the watch "a unique piece of Titanic history and one of the most important works of horology associated with the most famous ship in the world."
Aldridge also noted that at the time of the sinking of the Titanic, Astor was one of the richest men in the world, his fortune was estimated at $87 million. This is reported by daily.afisha.ru.
