On April 9, a meeting was held between the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, Vepa Hajiyev, and the Director General of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC), Alexey Borodin, who is in Geneva on a working visit.
The parties discussed the possibility of holding major international events in the field of information and communication technologies in Turkmenistan. Priority tasks and practical steps in the field of communication, including in the international arena, were also discussed. The possibility of holding joint events with the RCC at the Geneva site was noted.
The issue of expanding the number of full members of the RCC was also discussed. Active cooperation between telecom operators, representatives of research organizations in the communications/ICT industry and other organizations operating in the field of info-communications was considered, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
