On April 9, at Buckingham Palace, King Charles III received the first copies of new banknotes with his image. These banknotes, which will go into circulation in June, mark a new milestone in the history of the British monarchy, report.az reports.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey and Chief Cashier Sarah John. King Charles III will be featured on all 5, 10, 20 and 50 pounds banknotes. According to tradition, the first copies of the new banknotes, numbered 00001, were presented to the monarch.

It is important to note that the new notes featuring the King will be used alongside the current notes which feature Queen Elizabeth II. The Bank of England has stated that both series will remain legal tender.
