On April 8, during a solar eclipse, the Moon will cast a shadow 198 km wide on the Earth. Residents located in the band of this shadow will be able to observe the total phase of the eclipse. This was reported to TASS by astronomer, head of the methodological support department of the Moscow Planetarium Lyudmila Koshman.

The maximum phase of the eclipse, when the Sun is completely covered by the Moon, will last 4 minutes 28 seconds. This will happen at 21:17 Moscow time in northern Mexico, at a point with coordinates of 25,3 degrees north latitude and 104,1 degrees west longitude. During the full phase, it will be possible to see the solar corona with the naked eye, as well as stars and planets located nearby.

The total phase of the eclipse will be visible from North America and some islands in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
