A regional training center of the World Customs Organization will be created in Turkmenistan

The delegation of Turkmenistan met in Brussels with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Ian Saunders. Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov emphasized the country's efforts to integrate into international customs systems and join key WCO conventions in recent years, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

During the meeting, issues of deepening cooperation in the customs sphere and the participation of Turkmen customs officers in WCO educational programs were discussed. An important topic was the creation of a WCO regional training center at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan to strengthen professional capacity in the region.

WCO Secretary General Ian Saunders highly appreciated the initiatives and achievements of Turkmenistan in the field of customs regulation. He expressed the organization’s readiness to provide the necessary support and advice for the development and improvement of the country’s customs system.

The creation of a regional WCO training center will not only improve the qualifications of national personnel, but will also become a significant contribution to the development of customs affairs in the region.
