The exhibition “Culture of Clothing and Jewelry Art of the Turkic Peoples,” which opened in Baku, presents Turkmen women’s national costumes and jewelry.

This exhibition is taking place at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and is dedicated to the Novruz holiday and the 15th anniversary of its inclusion in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

As the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reports, the exhibition is based on traditional women’s costumes and jewelry of the peoples of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.

Exhibits from their collections were presented by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, the International Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage, the Association of Hungarian Folk Crafts and private collector Virginia Morgan-Hayat.

Virginia's private collection includes more than 500 different exhibits, which she acquired in Central Asia and other countries as a result of numerous travels.

For presentation at the festive exhibition, Virginia chose robes, carpets, suzanis and one of the most expensive items in her collection - a 16-meter long carpet ribbon, which was used to decorate the yurt, the source notes.
