For the first time in India, a robot teacher based on artificial intelligence (AI) has started working at the Higher Secondary School in Trivandrum, Kerala. A robot named Iris, dressed in a colorful sari, moves around the classroom on wheels and greets students with a handshake. TASS reports this.
Iris is capable of answering questions on a variety of subjects, providing voice assistance and making learning more interactive.
Iris developers are confident that the use of AI in education will create personalized learning, as well as deliver engaging and effective lessons.
The extent to which robot teachers will be used in the future is still difficult to estimate, but the Iris experience already provides insight into how AI can play a supporting role in education.
