Research has shown that holding hands with a partner can be beneficial for mental well-being and the management of stressful situations. “Rambler” writes about this.

According to ScienceTimes, simply holding hands with a loved one, especially someone you're romantically involved with, can help you feel calm and even “rewire” your brain's response to stress.

Interaction through touch is an important aspect of human relationships that begins in infancy, when babies instinctively grasp their mother's fingers.

In the human hands there are sensory nerve endings connected to the vagus nerve. Exposure to it, in turn, affects the hypothalamus, participating in the regulation of mood, immunity, digestion and heart rate.

Holding hands, like hugs, stimulates the production of “happiness hormones” - oxytocin and serotonin.

In a study, women who held hands with a stranger while waiting to receive an electric shock showed decreased brain response to threat. The feeling of relief became even more pronounced when the women held hands with their husbands.
