Beethoven's Ninth Symphony was performed at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg in honor of the bicentenary of the world premiere, reports “MIR 24”.

The Ninth Symphony was first performed in Vienna on May 7, 1824. The orchestra was then led by Beethoven himself. This time the Turkish maestro was entrusted with conducting the orchestra.

“This is an unusual piece, it is neither minor nor major. Such power, in which there is nothing yet, and then a big explosion and the birth of the Universe. This is a very deep appeal to humanity and humanity”, - said Cemi’i Can Deliorman, chief conductor of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (Ankara).

The Ninth Symphony is one of the most significant works in the history of classical music. It is distinguished by the bold experiment of Beethoven, who introduced text into the symphonic work - Schiller's ode to joy. At the Mariinsky Theater this part was performed by soloists of the theater's opera troupe in the original language – German.
