The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea B. Durdyev held negotiations with the editor-in-chief and publisher of The Korea Times newspaper Oh Young-jin, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission reports.
The parties discussed issues of developing cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of media. The Ambassador introduced the interlocutor to the main directions of the foreign and domestic policies of Turkmenistan, paying special attention to information policy.
The commitment to strengthening international cooperation in the exchange of news and information materials about important events in Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea was confirmed.
B. Durdyev noted that the year 2024 in Turkmenistan is held under the motto “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.” In this regard, various events are being held to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker.
It was also emphasized that the declaration of 2024 by TURKSOY as the Year of Magtymguly Fragi, as well as the inclusion of the poet’s anniversary in the UNESCO list of memorable dates indicate international recognition of his creative heritage.
At the end of the meeting, O Yong-jin was informed that the ancient Turkmen city of Anau was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.
