Utilization of cotton biomass promises great technical, economic and environmental benefits for Turkmenistan. Ahmet Penjiyev, associate professor of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, stated this on the pages of the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
Biofuel is fuel from biomass of biological raw materials, usually obtained by processing cotton stems and seeds. The economic and environmental potential of cotton biomass suitable for energy use in Turkmenistan is quite high.
The transition to modern technologies for using energy from cotton biomass will reduce environmental damage, increase the reliability and social significance of fuel and heat supply systems, primarily in remote areas of the country, as well as import finished cotton biomass as fuel, composite building materials to neighboring countries - Afghanistan, Pakistan and others.
One of the main parameters that determine the economic potential of cotton biomass and the prospects for use as renewable energy sources (RES) is the cost of energy production based on RES. Thus, one of the areas of the scientific foundations of the modern strategy for the production of cotton biomass is the search for new energy resources for irreplaceable components of the industry, the use of non-traditional types of raw materials, and the creation of new progressive innovative technologies that will improve the economic and environmental sustainable development of Turkmenistan.
