In 2023, the team of the Balkan velayat hydrogeological expedition of the State Corporation “Turkmengeologiya” successfully completed the excavation of 6353 linear meters of wells, which is 1123 meters more than planned obligations.

The expedition’s activities are directly related to the exploration of water resources, drilling or drainage of groundwater from strategically important operational areas of enterprises in the fuel and energy sector, as reported in the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

Hydrogeologists are engaged in exploration, justification, drilling and development of sources of fresh and mineral, thermal and industrial waters. But their most important task is to find drinking water to meet the needs of the population, agriculture, and industry. In this regard, they are restoring the operational qualities of wells located in the deserts of the Turkmen Caspian Sea, searching for new places where they can build a well with moisture suitable for watering sheep and camels.

Hydrogeologists of the SC equip expeditions, outline the contours and scale of coordinated actions for the near and distant future. Activities are focused on the rolling plains and mountainous landscapes of Western Kopetdag, including the Gyzylarbat and Magtymguly etraps.

Thus, 12 kilometers southwest of the city of Gyzylarbat, an increase in water reserves was successfully carried out due to the “Jahangyr” deposit; the chemical composition and level of mineralization were determined on the basis of the Central Laboratory of the SC. The water turned out to be of excellent quality; it is now used for irrigation of agricultural land and for drinking purposes.

At the same time, drilling is underway 15 kilometers south of Gyzylarbat, directly in the mountain gorge at the Purnuar field. The work began at the end of summer, and upon completion of the entire chain of technological processes, the reserves of the discovered underground lens will be used exclusively for drinking needs.

Work continues at the Çendir field in the Magtymguly etrap. Here, hydrogeologists have been on duty for almost a month, successfully traversing the rock mass at the mouth of the future well.
