The “Amazing Spider-Man №1”, which debuted the iconic superhero, sold at auction for a record 1,38 million USD. Mail.ru reports this with reference to UPI.
Created by artist Steve Ditko and writer Stan Lee, this issue is one of only two in excellent condition to receive a 9,8 grade from the Certified Guaranty Company.
The auction was conducted by Heritage Auctions. The amount received for the “debut” of Spider-Man broke the organization’s previous record of 520 380 USD.
The “Amazing Spider-Man №1” was published in March 1963 and sold for just 12 cents. In the first issue, the hero meets the Fantastic Four and fights the Chameleon.
