Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly and Yerevan State University are expanding cooperation. Lectures are regularly held between the two universities, in which faculty and students participate. The work is being carried out on the basis of the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2017, writes Neutral Turkmenistan.

This year, ESU students took part in the International Internet Olympiad in Chemistry, organized by the Turkmen State University, and took five first and one second places.

In Armenia, much attention is paid to studying the life and work of Magtymguly Fragi, whose 300th anniversary will be celebrated in 2024. The poet’s works have been translated into many languages of the world, including Armenian, says Amalia Petrosyan, candidate of pedagogical sciences, senior lecturer at the Department of Turkic Studies at Yerevan State University.

According to her, as part of cooperation between universities, video conferences were held dedicated to the work of Magtymguly and the Armenian poet, Ashug Sayat-Nova. “Carrying out this kind of event provides an opportunity to broadly and comprehensively study the literary heritage of both our ancestors and foreign authors,” emphasized the candidate of pedagogical sciences at Yerevan State University.

It is also noted that the contribution of Armenian scientists to the study of Magtymguly’s work was highly appreciated by the Government of Turkmenistan. In particular, Professor Alexander Safaryan from Yerevan University was awarded the Magtymguly Fragi Medal for the development of Turkmen-Armenian relations in the fields of education, science and culture.

Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Amalia Petrosyan from Yerevan State University defended her PhD thesis on translations of Magtymguly’s works into Armenian. Thanks to the help of Turkmen colleagues, she mastered the native language of the great poet and today successfully teaches Turkmen language and literature, and also conducts work on the comparative study of Magtymguly’s poetic heritage.
