The flight route between Southeast Asia's two largest cities, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, has become the world's busiest in 2023, according to British research firm OAG, reports “Interfax”.
In the past year, 4,9 million seats were available on this route, which is one and a half times more than in 2022.
In second place in the ranking of the busiest air routes in the world is the Cairo-Jeddah flight (4,8 million seats, an increase of 38%), and in third place is Hong Kong-Taipei (4,6 million seats, an increase of 130%).
The ranking of the most popular destinations also included:
Dubai - Riyadh (4 million seats);
Jakarta - Singapore (3,9 million seats);
New York - London (3,9 million seats);
Bangkok - Singapore (3,5 million seats);
Bangkok - Seoul (3,4 million seats).
The world's busiest airports in 2023 are:
Atlanta Airport, USA, handled 61,2 million passengers, up 12% from last year.
Dubai Airport, UAE (56,5 million passengers, up 25%).
Tokyo Haneda Airport, Japan (52,7 million passengers, up 26%).
London Heathrow Airport, UK (49,4 million passengers, up 23%).
