The decline in the level of the Caspian Sea is a pressing problem that requires an integrated approach, close attention and study.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian states in Moscow, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The minister emphasized the need to create a five-party working group to study problems associated with lowering water levels in the Caspian Sea. He noted the importance of developing measures to prevent and mitigate the consequences of shallowing. Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to prepare a draft legal document in this area.

In addition, Turkmenistan proposed to accelerate the approval of the draft Agreement on cooperation of the Caspian countries in the field of marine scientific research of the Caspian Sea. This will permit the states of the region to unite their efforts to solve the problem of sea level decline.
