The capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, will host the world exhibition EXPO 2030. This decision was made at the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions in Paris. Riyadh received 119 votes out of a possible 160, beating Rome and Busan. This was reported by russianemirates.com.
Riyadh presented the concept of the exhibition “EXPO, built by the world for the world”. It is based on the principles of inclusivity, accessibility and sustainability.
EXPO 2030 will be held from October 1, 2030 to March 31, 2031. The theme of the exhibition will be uniting people in an era of change to build a better future.
Saudi Arabia plans to host 120 million guests at the exhibition. The kingdom allocated 7,8 billion USD to prepare for the event.
The expo town will consist of 226 country pavilions located close to each other. This symbolizes the cohesion of states.
The exhibition area will be powered by solar energy. Organizers are also working on strategies to increase biodiversity, minimize food waste and introduce green waste management and recycling practices.
