At the Dubai Air Show, Emirates Airline and Boeing Co. signed a contract for the purchase of aircraft for 52 billion USD, reports www.ixbt.com.
The agreement is the largest in aviation history and reflects the industry's recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the deal, Emirates will order 125 wide-body Boeing 777X aircraft, including 100 777-9 aircraft and 25 777-8 aircraft.
The new aircraft will be used to expand Emirates' route network and increase the airline's capacity.
It is also reported that FlyDubai, part of the Emirates Group, has ordered 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, which will become the first wide-body aircraft in the company's fleet.
Emirates Group previously reported its best financial half-year in its history. In the first six months of the current financial year, the group recorded a net profit of 2.7 billion USD, exceeding its previous record of 1.2 billion USD by 138%.
