The winner of the 2023 Prix Goncourt has been announced

The winner of the Prix Goncourt, the most prestigious literary award in France, was named in Paris. The winner was the writer Jean-Baptiste Andrea for his novel “Keeping an eye on her”, reports “MIR 24”.

The novel tells a love story against the backdrop of events in fascist Italy.

Jean-Baptiste Andrea is 52 years old. His previous novels, “My Queen” and “Devil and Saints”, also won awards. In cinema, the writer gained popularity as the author of the films “Dead End” and “Complete Bummer”.

Also competing for the 2023 Prix Goncourt are Erik Reinhardt, Gaspard Koenig and Nezh Sinno.

Last year, the prize was won by French writer Brigitte Giraud for her novel “Living Fast”.

For over 100 years, the Prix Goncourt has been awarded to the best novel written in French. It bears the name of the French classics Goncourt brothers – Edmond Louis Antoine and Jules Alfred Huot.
