Residents of Almaty are taking part in an event to collect acorns for the inhabitants of the city zoo, writes “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda”.

Thanks to the citizens, not only the streets of Almaty were significantly cleared of fallen acorns, but also the animals received a tasty treat. The zoo thanks you for the acorns you bring with free tickets, certificates and small prizes.

A ticket to visit the zoo is awarded to a child who brings 3 kilograms of acorns, and an adult who brings 7 kilograms.

Acorns are happily eaten by wild boars, deer, roe deer, saigas, camels, and even giraffes do not refuse.

The campaign to donate fallen acorns takes place annually from October 25 to November 7. The streets of Almaty are completely planted with oak trees, so there is no shortage of acorns; on the contrary, in the fall they heavily pollute roads and sidewalks.

You can donate collected acorns right at the entrance to the zoo. The brought nuts are weighed and the data of those who brought the treat for the animals is recorded. Only acorns that are clean, ripe, without signs of rotting or debris are accepted.
