Turkmenistan and China are important players in the international energy market and have enormous potential for cooperation. Taking this into account, countries need to actively create new growth points in the energy sector.
This was stated by the President of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Hou Jijun, speaking online at the oil and gas conference OGT-2023, informs Turkmenportal correspondent.
“We need to actively develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the gas sector. As of September of current year, the volume of natural gas trade between Turkmenistan and China amounted to 380 billion cubic meters with a turnover of 76 billion US dollars”, - said Hou Jijun.
Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the gas sector has significantly contributed to the economic development and social security of the two countries, the head of the corporation noted.
The head of CNPC also expressed the opinion that the transition to carbon neutrality will take time and the world will remain dependent on fossil fuels for a long time. At the same time, natural gas will retain a key role due to its environmental friendliness and efficiency. Energy development will be based on the complementarity of traditional and new sources.
“In the global energy future, the development of various energy sources will be on a complementary, balanced and coordinated basis. And traditional and new energy sources will harmoniously complement each other, which will contribute to the security of energy supply and the achievement of the goal of reducing carbon emissions”, - said the President of CNPC.
