Turkmen athletes are actively preparing to participate in the World Wushu Championship, which will be held in the USA from November 16 to 20, the MIC reports.
Turkmen athletes who proved their skills at the Turkmenistan Cup, held in Ashgabat, will take part in the world championship. They will compete in Wushu Sanda, a full-contact martial arts sport that includes strikes, throws and grappling.
Now the athletes are at the final stage of preparation under the leadership of the head coach of the national team Shirmyrat Berdyev. He has been training Turkmen wushu players since 2012 and has achieved many successes with them on the international stage. One of his wards, Bayrammyrat Babayev, is already the owner of several medals in various competitions, including a gold medal at the 2014 European Championship and a bronze medal at the 2015 Asian Championship.
Currently, more than 2 thousand people practice wushu in Turkmenistan, trained by over 40 experienced mentors. The Wushu Federation of Turkmenistan will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.
