Istanbul, which suffered from drought all summer, is now struggling with the consequences of flooding, writes Komsomolskaya Pravda. Heavy rains flooded several areas of the city at once, some city highways were closed to traffic, and the first floors of buildings were flooded. The flow of water was so strong that it carried away the sewer hatches.

The Black Sea regions of Turkey and the Istanbul suburb of Sile were hit hardest by the rains. The local river overflowed its banks and flooded most of the city.

But the downpours have a beneficial effect on the water level in Istanbul reservoirs - even in the summer there was only 5-10% of the design volume of water left in them, but now the moisture reserves have been replenished to 23%.

Residents of Istanbul, known for their love of animals, in addition to eliminating the consequences of floods, rescue cats in trouble. Hiding from the rain, they climb under the hoods of cars, and vigilant drivers and citizens detect them in time and pull them out.

The rains in Turkey, according to forecasters, will continue for at least another day.
