Governor of the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation Igor Babushkin, within the framework of his visit to Turkmenistan, visited the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky in Ashgabat, reports the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the joint-stock company.

Let us remind that during his stay in Ashgabat, Babushkin met with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, the parties stated that recently the relationship between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region has been characterized by active dynamics.

The Astrakhan governor noted interest in opening a regular shipping line between the ports of Olya and Turkmenbashy. In addition, he discussed with the head of Turkmenistan the issues of opening air traffic between Astrakhan and Turkmenbashy and easing the visa regime for visiting the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone for Russian tourists.

In April 2023, within the framework of the “Caspian Sea – Sea of Friendship” motorcycle rally, Igor Babushkin also visited the Orthodox churches of Turkmenistan - the Archangel Michael Church in the city of Turkmenbashy and the Church of the Holy Blessed Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky in Ashgabat.
