In Dushanbe, under the auspices of the Economic Cooperation Organization, the first meeting of the high-level working group on the multimodal corridor “Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye” (TUTIT) + China was held, reports NIAT “Khovar”.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of development and promotion of this international transit corridor. The goal of cooperation is to increase cargo transportation and simplify trade procedures, especially for countries without access to the sea.
Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim noted that Tajikistan, as part of the world community, is making efforts to develop transport and logistics to ensure international trade.
“The use of the corridor is effective in terms of reducing distances and reducing the cost of transporting goods compared to existing corridors”, - Ibrohim noted.
A new route for transporting goods from China to Türkiye via Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran was introduced in October 2022. Its opening was an important event for the development of regional trade and cooperation.
