Vegan salmon fillets printed on a 3D printer have gone on sale in Austria, reported “Europulse”.
The creator of the creative vegan dish is the Vienna-based startup Revo Foods. The simulated salmon meat is made from protein derived from mushrooms. In addition, the “fish” contains algae and other plant products that give the product the appearance and taste of fish, as well as protein and Omega-3 fatty acids.
Cultivated salmon meat is intended to be an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fishing methods and fish farms. About 60% of the world's fish stocks are subject to increased fishing, which puts the population at risk of complete extinction.
