President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Transport and Communications Agency to prepare new proposals to increase the number and destinations of air services to foreign countries, as well as to improve the conditions for purchasing air tickets through a digital system.
The relevant information was presented during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications Mammethan Chakyev reported to the head of state on the results of the activities of institutions in the sphere under his supervision for eight months of the current year.
During the reporting period, the growth rate for the performance of work and the provision of services in the whole transport and communications complex amounted to 123.8%.
In January-August of the current year, the growth rate of cargo transportation through road, rail, air, sea and river transport reached 106.2%, and for passenger transportation - 104.6%.
The growth rate for the provision of services for the indicated period for the agency "Türkmendemirýollary" ("Turkmen Railways") is 107.2%, the agency "Türkmenawtoulaglary" ("Turkmenautotransport") - 117.7%, the agency "Türkmenhowaýollary" ("Turkmen Airlines" ) - 245.9%, the agency "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" ("Turkmen Sea and River Routes") - 107.1%, the agency "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" ("Turkmen Communications") - 111.8%.
Information was also provided on the work carried out within the framework of the implementation of the “Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025”.
Along with this, it was reported on the progress of construction in various parts of the country of industrial and social facilities for the transport and communication complex.
A separate topic of the report was the results of past meetings of joint working commissions on the development of transport and logistics cooperation with foreign countries.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the importance of further increasing the pace of passenger and cargo transportation, providing high-quality and safe services on the country’s internal and external routes.
Along with this, it was instructed to prepare new proposals to increase the number and destinations of air services to foreign countries, improve conditions for purchasing air tickets through a digital system.
