Inventor Patrick Hanlon created a special vest for the deaf, which, with the help of vibrations sent to the body, permits people who have lost their hearing to enjoy music, writes Vc.ru.
The vest is equipped with 24 points that transmit vibration waves to the body. The vibration produced by violins is transmitted to the chest area, by cellos and double basses to the stomach, and by wind instruments to the shoulders. The voice solo is transmitted to the wrist area.
During the presentation of vibration vests to the audience wearing them, Korean folk music and works by Mozart were broadcast. With the help of these vests, you can listen to music of any genre - from classical to hard rock and disco.
Hanlon designed his vest in tandem with Jay Zimmerman, a musician who lost his hearing in 2001. Together they plan to create similar vests for children who are deaf from birth in the future. “I hope that in the future we will be able to create a whole library of sounds for deaf children - they do not perceive the world by ear, but this way we will open up new sensations for them”, - Zimmerman said.
Patrick Hanlon is the co-founder of Music: Not Impossible, dealing with the problems of the deaf.
