The State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan hosted a conference on the role of electronic libraries in the development of the younger generation.
According to the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper, it was noted at the conference that the country's libraries pay great attention to young people, and therefore a separate communication tool is the online space, including the libraries' own websites.
So, for example, on the website of the state library dovletkitaphana.gov.tm, users can get acquainted with ongoing cultural events, new books that have arrived at the library, and you can also see information about the current departments of the library, the source notes.
However, the acceleration of access to digital resources should not lead to the alienation of young people from the book, to the depreciation of the printed edition. An innovative approach to working with young people is an excellent opportunity to involve them in the library field. This is a mutually beneficial advantage. When communicating with young people, librarians learn more about their interests, and young people, in turn, are involved in the cultural and social life of the country, develop their creative and intellectual abilities, the speakers noted.
