President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent heartfelt congratulations to President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro on the occasion of the national holiday celebrated today - Venezuela's Independence Day.

Taking this pleasant opportunity, the head of state expressed sincere wishes to President Nicolas Maduro for good health and happiness, and to the people of Venezuela - peace, well-being and further prosperity, reports the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper today.

The coast of Venezuela was discovered by the navigator Christopher Columbus in 1498. For almost three centuries, Venezuela was a Spanish colony.

At the congress of the Congress of the Provinces of Venezuela on July 5, 1811, the Declaration of Independence was adopted, which was signed by seven of the ten provinces of Venezuela. According to the declaration, the Venezuelans decided to move away from the power of the Spanish crown in order to create a new independent state.

With the signing of the declaration, the struggle for the independence of Venezuela did not end; after the death of Francisco Miranda, it was headed by Simon Bolivar. But it is the date of signing the declaration that is celebrated in Venezuela as Independence Day.

Independence Day is especially loved and revered by freedom-loving Venezuelans. In the capital - Caracas - a parade is organized, mass celebrations are held throughout the country, music is heard everywhere and people are dancing.
