In the city of Seydi, Dyanev etrap, a seminar was held on obtaining alternative sources of income through the application of methods and technologies for the efficient use of land and water resources, as well as land use planning in the context of climate change and biodiversity conservation in the pilot region of Lebap velayat.
The seminar was held within the framework of the project “Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea basin for multiple benefits”, implemented by UNDP jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by representatives of the private sector, the agro-industrial complex, specialists from the hakimliks of Dargan-ata and Dyanev etraps on agriculture, water management at the velayat and etrap levels, representatives of agricultural and livestock farms, gengeshes from the pilot regions of the project, agricultural experts and employees Amudarya State Natural Reserve.
The workshop presented sustainable practices and innovative approaches in the field of horticulture, greenhouses and irrigated agriculture from the experience of previous joint projects of UNDP and the Government of Turkmenistan.
Zero tillage methods, the benefits of laser land leveling, as well as methods for the production of biofertilizers were also demonstrated, according to a UNDP press release.
