Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov held a meeting in Yerevan with the director of the Institute of Geophysics and Engineering Seismology named after A. Nazarov of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia John Karapetyan.
According to the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission, the interlocutors stated active cooperation, numerous meetings of scientists of the two countries, participation in various international events, exchange of experience in the field of seismological research, which are carried out within the framework of the Agreement between the Governments of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia on scientific and technical cooperation between the Institute seismology and atmospheric physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Geophysics and Engineering Seismology named after A. Nazarov of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
The interest in the partnership is explained by the coincidence of the goals of scientific research, similar problems and the search for solutions to the problems facing seismologists in the field of geophysics, seismic hazard assessment, creating maps of seismic hazard and risk, as well as developing new research methods using modern equipment.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Ayazov handed Karapetyan a letter from Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov with an invitation to take part in the opening ceremony of a new urban development project - the modern city of Arkadag.
We remind that the city of Arkadag, which will house approximately 70 000 people, is being built on an area of 950 hectares, 30 kilometers southwest of the Turkmen capital. “Smart” residential buildings controlled via a smartphone, a square with a flagpole, buildings of the hakimlik and other institutions have been built here.
The construction of this mega-project was started in 2019. On March 24, 2023, the Law of Turkmenistan came into force, according to which the city of Arkadag has a special legal status - a city of state importance.
