Russian scientists from the Baltic Federal University. I. Kant received a patent for the technology of oil extraction from seaweed, writes TASS.
The raw materials for producing oil using this technology are algae and marine debris, which wash ashore in large quantities after a storm. Biomass from algae and garbage is loaded into a special reactor and heated to 300 degrees at a pressure of 30-40 atmospheres. Thus, oil, coal and water are absorbed in the reactor.
According to the author of the technique, the reactor recreates the conditions in which oil is formed in the bowels of the Earth, just the time has been reduced from millions of years to half an hour.
The representative of the Baltic Federal University also added that there are other options for obtaining artificial oil, for example, from wood waste.
